The information regarding water intake varies, with the most popular suggestions saying you should drink eight glasses of water which equates to about two litres a day! But when you think about it, drinking enough water can only be a good thing – helping you look and feel better on the inside and outside. As you probably remember from school our bodies are made up of 60-70% water, and it is important to keep replenishing your body throughout the day especially if you lead an active lifestyle.

Water has huge benefits for your digestive system, water combined with fibre work together to keep you regular and avoid constipation. If you are prone to bloating, sip on more water or a peppermint tea to relieve the pressure on your torso.

Your muscles need water to adequately recover after exercise. Make sure to drink water before you exercise and during your routine to replace any fluid lost through sweat. Keeping on top of drinking enough water will also aid in avoiding muscle cramps and helps to lubricate the joints in your body.

It also helps to dissolve minerals and other nutrients so the body can process them. By staying properly hydrated, water maintains your kidney and liver function, by flushing out waste toxins, and it carries important nutrients and oxygen to your cells.
